| The
Birthplace of the Divine Mercy Devotion |
| |
When
Val Conlon, our director, arrived in Vilnius some years ago, no one
knew the place where Saint Faustina had received the Chaplet of Divine
Mercy. From her diary, Divine Mercy devotees knew that it happened
in Vilnius but no one could tell where exactly the place was. It took
Val some time to discover the ruined convent which had only one surviving
building, which happened to be the one where Saint Faustina lived.
It was a revelation and a miracle at the same time. Amidst wars, destruction,
nazi and communist occupations, God preserved this special place for
a holy purpose. It will become one of the most important places in
the Divine Mercy revelations.

Vilnius
is now known as the City of Divine Mercy, a place highly favoured by
Jesus where the sacred image of the Merciful Jesus was painted and exposed
for the first time, where the Chaplet of Mercy was given to Saint Faustina,
where the Feast of Mercy was celebrated for the first time. No single
place on this earth is more associated with Jesus, Divine Mercy than
this city, Vilnius. |
